Guests can enjoy the exclusive use of the sitting area with gas fireplace, satellite TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster oven or relax in the outdoor hot tub. Guest use laundry facilities also available. All stays include complimentary WiFi access and continental breakfast. Meet Jim & Joan Atkinson
Jim and Joan Atkinson always dreamed of operating a bed and breakfast. They were finally able to turn that dream into reality in 2013. With the community expanding and tourism growing, "we saw a need for alternative accommodation in Mackenzie," says Joan. The Atkinsons feel privileged and grateful to be able to fill a niche and to be able to meet people from around the world at the same time.
The couple has lived in Mackenzie for approximately two decades and, says Joan, "there is no place I would rather live." They appreciate the close ties they have been able to develop within the community, made easy by the fact that residents are friendly and open to each other. "You feel part of the community," Joan notes. "People know your name and are always willing to help out." This also makes it a very safe place to live, another aspect of Mackenzie living that the Atkinsons love.
Being surrounded by nature and diverse terrain is the icing on the cake for those who call Mackenzie home. With so many things for outdoors enthusiasts to do, it is a destination for sportsmen and recreationists of all kinds. Jim and Joan appreciate the outdoors, and places that are unique to Mackenzie, like the Mugaha Bird Banding Station.
